Momentos by Nano Rocha
This is a portuguese short-film written and directed by Nuno Rocha for LG Portugal. The concept, “Life’s good” was the main purpose of this work.
In truth this is a beautiful human moment that regardless of the fact that it is an extended advertisement for LG is touching and lets you forget that you are being advertised to. Nicely done.

Azureus Rising by Black Sun Entertainment
Black Sun Entertainment has been working on a proof-of-concept for what the company is hoping will be a new film trilogy. Called “Azureus Rising,” the five minute video shows an action scene that was put together by a core team of about five people. Check it out below.
“Azureus” is the story of a young man who after escaping death and enduring a life changing journey - matures into a heroic freedom fighter. It is an epic tale of self discovery, obligation and love against all odds.
Hollywood studios are known for picking up shorts like this. And while the video is incredibly well-made, would you be interested in seeing it turned into a feature film?
Pixels by Patrick Jean
“Pixels” is a short film which popped up about a month ago featuring classic game characters breaking out of a television and wreaking havoc through New York City. It was pretty damn cool. So cool, in fact, that Adam Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison Productions, has partnered with “Pixels” creator Patrick Jean to develop a feature film based on the concept.
According to Heat Vision, Happy Madison is currently in talks with Columbia, with whom they have a “first-look” deal. The plan is to create an action-comedy using the idea of game characters breaking into the real world.
John Lewis “Woman” Ad
Dougal Wilson’s latest spot for John Lewis (produced by Blink with VFX from MPC) flexes both his stronger and often contrasting skills; “in-camera” trickery whilst maintaining even pressure on the viewers’ heart strings.
The ambitious camera-move in this spot is an evolution of some of Dougal’s older work in the same vein (see Jarvis Cocker – “Don’t Let Him Waste Your Time” and Boots – “Bus Journey”) . While most folks get wrapped up in the technical aspect of such a project, Dougal continues to focus on the nuances of performance and warmth in cinematography that make this piece his own.
This is yet another prime example of the importance of a singular vision in an industry that can risk being diluted by technique-driven work and the sacrificed narrative that can come as a result.

Monsieur COK by Franck Dion
Mister COK is a tale of modern times, showing us the deeds of a grotesque and placid monster. His childish gibberish and his melancolic smile do not match the shear violence of his acts. A violence made more terrifying by the fact that nobody seems really to care, except a distasteful, shouting, violent character with a red scarf. This story softly mocks this fools gold, the way public opinions sometimes give their admiration to thiefs and robbers, just because their success is what the public is dreaming about. Any resemblance with existing people is not accidental in any way !
The Father by Sticky Monster Lab
The father is a new short film by Sticky Monster Lab, a collective of three artists from Seoul, South Korea and the background song by The Black Skirts called Dientes. Presented in a split-screen format as if it is the pages of a book, it simultaneously tells the story of a father and son growing up and getting older, struggling with the pressure to succeed. The Father project also takes the shape of an actual book, poster, and vinyl figures of the main characters.
Skhizein by Jeremy Clapin
Directed by Jeremy Clapin, SKHIZEIN is a strange film that begins with a man at a psychiatrist’s office talking about his problem. It seems that since a meteorite struck nearby, he’s been “out of phase”. In other words, every thing he does is 91 centimeters off (that’s a yard for all of us non-metric folks)! When he goes to the toilet, for example, he needs to stand 91 centimeters to the right or he’ll miss! And, when he wants to look out the window, he puts his head through the wall next to the window! It’s all very strange yet compelling. What is also strange is the animation style. While it uses CGI, the look is totally unique and the main character looks a lot like a child’s drawing or the David character from David Shannon’s books.
Suddenly by Magnus Engsfors
Magnus Engsfors animated and directed this short film with Martin Nordqvist on photography duties. Magnus describes this as, “a short movie illustrating the moment of total mental collapse due to very difficult personal circumstances.”
Here is what Engsfors had to say about his work:
“It was shot with one Canon Eos 5D and a single external ProFoto flash while I was hanging in two ropes stretched across the scene. Then some heavy masking and retouch in Photoshop before the layers was lined up in After Effects to add camera movement and particles and such things.”
